��I AM HESHIMA is a grassroots organization registered in Kenya & Canada. We empower children and youth through education in and out of the classroom. We achieve this through our 5 programs: Academic scholarships (primary, secondary & post-secondary), My Time (Reproductive health), Under the Mango Tree (Early childhood education & development) Heshima Football Club (Talent development), & Leadership (Education is ���paid back��� by giving back). The 600+ children in our organization are the 1st in 3 generations of their family to graduate! In our community, the average annual household income is $200. We are the sole organization of its kind which operates in rural western Kenya. Although the right to education is universal, access to it is not; This is the reality we are changing. BOARD MEMBERS
The biggest advocates of an organization are its board members. These individuals are the face of I am Heshima and would use their efforts and abilities to promote the organization���s core mission in an ethical manner. IS this you? If so, please apply! I am Heshima is seeking Board members to join our governing board. Board members are an integral part of the team supporting Fundraising, financial compliance, and risk management of the organization.��
Candidate profile
We are seeking candidates with expertise in the following areas:

Executive leadership experiences within the�� private and not-for-profit sector;
Background in strategic partnership, fundraising, and donor liaison experience;
Experience in the humanitarian or development sectors;
A passion for building the resilience of communities��

To ensure diversity, global representation and gender balance within the board members, we would like to encourage people from all walks of life to join our team.
Role
The key roles of the board members include:

Be an I am Heshima ambassador within public and external audiences.
Be passionate about the sustainable growth of a small grassroots organization.��
Support I am Heshima���s leadership team in fundraising, resource mobilization and partnerships.
Ensuring I am Heshima���s strategic objectives are in accordance with its charitable mandate.
Ensure all income and expenditure are raised and utilized in compliance with I am Heshima���s charitable mandate and relevant charity law.
Participation in relevant areas of expertise: Fundraising, Networking, Finance & Audit, Human Resources, Governance etc.
Ensure adequate risk management processes are in place, reviewed and updated regularly.
