Overview of position:

  • Our client is undertaking a project that aims at increasing access to primary and secondary health services facilities (general hospitals, local health centers & therapeutic feeding centers) in Yemen, through restoring the physical infrastructure of health facilities (rehabilitation, maintenance works & minor repairs) in targeted areas.
  • Our client will be responsible for the design & rehabilitation works of the health facilities, ensuring highest standards in design & rehabilitation works & respect of ‘state of the art’ requirements for safety, sustainability, security & disability access. In addition, our client will also be responsible to provide the targeted facilities with priority medical equipment & supplies, as well as strengthening capacities through conducting trainings & awareness raising activities.

Role objectives:

  • Under instructions & directions of the Site Engineer / Supervisor & the Project Manager the Biomedical Engineer shall cooperatively be working side by side & perform all tasks assigned perfectly.
  • Conduct site visits to the assigned health facilities / Isolution unit to assess & identify rehabilitation needs & requirements for all buildings & departments of the targeted hospital.
  • A Medical Engineer responsible for testing & evaluation of medical devices, advice on new biomedical purchases for hospitals & Isolation units during the installation.
  • Adjust, maintain, repair, or provide technical support for biomedical equipment.
  • Submit all final documents of the technical studies to the supervisor on time.
  • Protecting the confidentiality of work.
  • Prepare measurement & calculation sheets of the required works.
  • Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ’s) & specifications of the required medical equipment & devices in English according to the typical BOQs.
  • Prepare estimated cost of the medical equipment & devices works.
  • Amend & modify any comments on the documents of the studies.
  • Document all activities of work (taking photos, notes, etc.).
  • Conduct any task required as per the direction of the Team Leader, Site Engineer & Project Manager.
  • Supervise the delivery of the medical / furniture / waste equipment to the targeted health facilities & isolation units & finalize all the hand over documents to be submitted to the supervisor.
  • S / He has to work side by side cooperatively with the rest team’s engineers.

Monitoring & progress controls:

  • The engineer shall submit the following deliverables but not limited to the team leader. All reports will be submitted to KFW project for our client in their head office based in Sana’a.
  • Final reviewed technical & assessment report.
  • Final reviewed BOQ’s & specifications.
  • Final reviewed estimated cost.
  • Inventory documents.
  • Photos.
  • Any other documents required & directed by the Team Leader, Site Engineer & Project Manager.

Project reporting:

  • This role will work under instructions & directions of the Site Engineer / Supervisor & the Project Manager.

Key competencies:

  • University Degree in Medical Devices Engineering.
  • 7 years working experience in project assessment, design & management experience in rehabilitation projects & construction projects.
  • A previous experience in rehabilitation & construction of hospitals is an asset.
