Overview of position

Our client is undertaking a project that aims at increasing access to primary and secondary health services facilities (general hospitals, local health centers, and therapeutic feeding centers) in Yemen, through restoring the physical infrastructure of health facilities (rehabilitation, maintenance works and minor repairs) in targeted areas.

Our client will be responsible for the design and rehabilitation works of the health facilities, ensuring highest standards in design and rehabilitation works, and respect of ‘state of the art’ requirements for safety, sustainability, security, and disability access. In addition, our client will be responsible to provide the targeted facilities with priority medical equipment and supplies, as well as strengthening capacities through conducting trainings and awareness raising activities.

Role objectives

  • Under instructions and directions of the site engineer/Supervisor and the project manager the bio medical engineer shall cooperatively be working side by side and perform all tasks assigned perfectly.
  • Conduct site visits to the assigned health facilities/ Isolation Unit to assess and identify rehabilitation needs and requirements for all buildings and departments of the targeted hospital.
  • A medical engineer responsible for testing and evaluation of medical devices, advice on new biomedical purchases for hospitals and Isolation Units during the installation
  • Adjust, maintain, repair, or provide technical support for biomedical equipment.
  • Submit all final documents of the technical studies to the Supervisor on time.
  • Protecting the confidentiality of work.
  • Prepare measurement and calculation sheets of the required works.
  • Prepare Bill of quantities and specifications of the required medical equipment and devices in English according to the typical BOQs.
  • Prepare estimated cost of the medical equipment and devices works.
  • Amend and modify any comments on the documents of the studies.
  • Document all activities of work (taking photos, notes, etc.).
  • Conduct any task required as per the direction of the team leader, the site engineer, and the project manager.
  • Supervise the delivery of the medical/furniture/waste equipment to the targeted health facilities and isolation units and finalize all the hand over documents to be submitted to the supervisor.
  • H/She Has to work side by side cooperatively with the rest team’s engineers.

Monitoring and Progress Controls:

The engineer shall submit the following deliverables but not limited to the team leader. All reports will be submitted to -KFW PROJECT, our client head office in Sana’a

  • Final reviewed technical and assessment report.
  • Final reviewed Bill of quantities and specifications.
  • Final Reviewed Estimated cost.
  • Inventory documents.
  • Photos.
  • Any other documents required and directed by the team leader, the site engineer, and the project manager.

  • To Project Manager.

  • A previous experience in rehabilitation and construction of hospitals is an asset.
