Job Overview:

IRC’s Washington Anti-Trafficking Response Network (WARN) Program offers support to survivors of human trafficking as they rebuild their lives free from trauma and exploitation. The Bilingual WARN Advocate provides person-centered, trauma-informed support to minor victims of labor trafficking; developing service plans to match individual and family needs utilizing a range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources based on participant needs, eligibility, and priorities. The WARN Advocate also participates in program planning, outreach, training, and service development through committees, task forces, and work groups.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Provide developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, person-centered intensive case management and advocacy to minor victims of labor trafficking based on individualized needs.

• Provide individualized, age-appropriate intake, assessment, orientation, support, referral, and advocacy services by assessing and evaluating each participant’s distinct needs.

• Develop reasonable service plans and timelines with each participant and manage participant expectations during the service period.

• Act as focal point for wrap-around services engaging with relevant systems, agencies, and community resources.

• Ensure that participants are provided the services, resources, and tools they need to meet their self-identified goals and objectives.

• Assess and monitor participant progress to ensure goals are being attained, designated resources are being maximized, and modify plans as required.

• Engage in outreach and training with key partner organizations and vulnerable communities in order to increase identification of minor victims of labor trafficking and referral for services.

• Maintain accurate records and consistently ensure the confidentiality of information relevant to children and their cases.

• Ensure compliance with case file management and reporting requirements.

• Adhere to organizational policies including IRC’s Child Safeguarding Policy.

• Other activities as assigned.

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: WARN Advocacy Coordinator

Indirect Reporting: WARN Sr. Program Manager, WARN Services Coordinator

Position Supervises: Volunteers and Interns

Other Internal and/or external contacts:

Internal: WashACT Coordinator, WARN Program Team, Youth Program Team, New Roots Team, Health Empowerment Team, Family Wellness Team, and other relevant IRC programs

External: WARN partner organizations – KIND, REST, API Chaya; WashACT; Local and State systems working with children and families such as Department of Children, Youth, and Families and Juvenile Justice systems; community partners and other providers throughout the service area

Job Requirements:

· Relevant degree or equivalent professional and/or lived experience

· Lived experience as immigrant, survivor, or related lived experience preferred

· In lieu of lived experience, experience working with immigrants, survivors of human trafficking or other abuses, child, or youth survivors; cross-cultural or overseas experience accepted

· A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience

· Experience working with children, family reunification/preservation, kinship care, foster care, child welfare

· Strong intercultural communication skills: demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and across language barriers

· Experience and training in trauma-informed services

· Demonstrated experience and understanding of professional boundaries

· Understanding of mandatory reporting and other child safeguarding laws and regulations

· Knowledge of local community social services and systems serving vulnerable children and youth

· English proficiency, both spoken and written, and professional proficiency in Spanish, required

· Comfortable working in high-stress environments; must be adaptable, flexible, and patient

· Well-developed ability to support personal well-being and life balance

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member

· Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other platforms.

· willingness to learn new software

· Access to a reliable transportation to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area
