BI Consultant – Investments

Location: London or Cirencester (hybrid working)

We are a decentralised data team responsible for end-to-end data management within the Investment Function. You will play a pivotal role in establishing a divisional analytics centre of excellence to enable a self-service analytics capability for the division, working on consultancy basis in departmental analytics projects and taking responsibility for modernising, managing and future development of centrally managed analytical solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drive forwards the Division’s analytical capabilities through the use of automation, visualisation & data science tools & methodologies
  • Build strong working relationships with senior managers, quants & analytics specialists to enable a self-service analytics capability within functional areas
  • Enable the automation of existing divisional MI & own development of future analytical solutions
  • Act as an SME/consultant on departmental analytics projects
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve data governance, automation and operational efficiency

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of building end-to-end analytics/visualisation solutions using BI tools, including ability to extract, assemble & transform own data to produce visuals and leverage relevant query language ie DAX, VizQL etc when required.
  • A practical knowledge of SQL is required, and familiarity with Python or R beneficial.
  • A practical and deep understanding of data & information management principles and best practices, with an appreciation of data science methodologies & concepts.
  • Exceptional analytical ability, data interpretation and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence and persuade others.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of investment theory across a broad range on instrument types – IMC qualified or part-qualified CFA
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg terminal, Factset workstation, Aladdin, AWS analytics services, Snowflake & DV2 methodologies.

Special Requirements:

The role may occasionally involve travel to other SJP locations and those of our third-party providers within the UK.
