- MBA SUMMER INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW At BD, MBA Interns drive influence and organizational impact. Projects and assignments tackle real business issues and enable you to accelerate your career through both personal and professional development, while solving some of healthcare’s most compelling problems. The BD MBA Internship program is our primary source for engaging and hiring marketing talent and developing our future leadership pipeline. You, as a BD MBA Intern, will have access to a broad group of business leaders and professionals who can provide insight, feedback and information for your project as needed and requested by your management team. You will develop skills in managing customer relationships by developing rapport with key stakeholders at all levels of the customer organization. AS AN MBA SUMMER INTERN, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES MAY SPAN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
- MARKET ASSESSMENT AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT
- Define target markets with high growth opportunities and develop strategies to achieve business objectives. Seek, sense, and analyze market factors including market trends, emerging technologies, business, economy, policy, medicine, disease therapy, demographics that are critical to growth. Develop and implement a process for handling and identifying new business opportunities and drive new business growth through effective management and development of these opportunities.
- MARKET SEGMENTATION AND CUSTOMER INSIGHTS
- Identify unmet customer needs, technological innovations, and industrial challenges in a specific product space. Conduct market opportunity assessment to define and evaluate potential business impact of addressing unmet needs. Determine pipeline of opportunities and key measures of success. Collect key customer insights to understand unmet and under-served customer needs of high value and develop recommendations to address product and service gaps as well as deliver improved customer experience.
- STRATEGIC INNOVATION AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
- Collect and synthesize relevant market information and provide strategic direction, analytical support and information with regard to customer unmet needs and market trends to guide development activities. Identify and validate world-wide growth opportunities and drive strategy development for selected white space opportunities for BD. This includes providing market assessments, preparing financial projections and providing direction for product development programs; and support business development activities (acquisition analysis, partnership analysis, etc.).
- MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS LEADERSHIP
- Lead the development of brand and product messaging strategies and establish balanced and differentiated product positioning to elevate awareness and brand preference. Define the most effective marketing communications mix including advertising, sales promotion, public relations, and direct marketing to reach the target audience. Define and execute lead generation programs to drive revenue growth. Throughout this process, the MBA intern will have the opportunity to work with internal stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, and Medical Affairs and will experience firsthand how the US Marketing organization operates and drives outcomes for the business. This assignment will also provide the MBA intern with the opportunity to learn about other BD businesses while trying to identify any cross-divisional growth opportunities. Additionally, this position will have tremendous exposure to commercial integration, global/US marketing, and business leadership while providing broad view of BD and our key customers. Internship opportunities available across multiple BD locations in the United States with the ability to work in a hybrid capacity or fully remote. Internship locations include: Baltimore, Maryland; Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; San Diego, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; Vernon Hills, Illinois; and Warwick, Rhode Island) QUALIFICATIONS/AREAS OF FOCUS
- Rising 2nd year MBA student at time of internship (Anticipated graduation of 2024)
- Experience or knowledge in the healthcare field is preferred
- Ability to work the full duration of the 10-12 week internship
- Some positions may also require a technical degree and/or experience in medical device, pharmaceuticals, or health care
