OVERVIEW
Balyasny Asset Management is looking for an exceptional Data Analyst/Python developer to work with several Consumer Portfolio Management teams on projects related to process automation / tool-building, fundamental research, and alternative data analysis. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge research at a leading hedge fund, offering hands-on experience at the intersection of fundamental investing and data analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with Consumer Portfolio Management teams to scope and build equity research tools to support their investment process
· Automate existing aspects of the equity research process
· Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and teams to brainstorm creative uses for data and automation in the investment process
· Construct or enhance data visualization tools
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRMENTS
· Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or any STEM related field.
· Availability to work 20 hours per week from September through year end.
· This is a remote internship opportunity – if local to New York or Boston, ability to work in the BAM offices.
· Proficient with Python. Knowledge of web scraping and database tools (SQL/SQLite) is a plus
· Strong analytical and data processing skills
· Self-starter, results-driven attitude with a great desire to learn
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, team attitude
· Ability to multi-task with outstanding attention to detail
