Awards Manager

Save the Children

The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Awards Manager – Global Technical Expertise Architecture & Flexible Operating Model Projects in any existing SCI location

ROLE PURPOSE:

Save the Children International (SCI) is currently facing several external pressures that require us to look at our structure and ways of working and determine the changes we need to make in order to remain relevant as we move into 2022 and beyond. As part of this, The Technical Expertise (TE) Transformation Project aims to ensure we have the right technical expertise in the right places around the world whilst the Flexible Operating Model (Flex OM) Project is designing new operating models to deliver change for children. The role holder will contribute to both separate transformation projects at SCI with an approximate 50/50 time split.

The Global Architecture Workstream (within the Technical Expertise Transformation (TE) project) is looking at the organisational architecture for Save the Children’s global TE’s in both a humanitarian and development context. The TE Project acknowledges that Technical Experts are critical for achieving our breakthroughs for children. We currently have Technical Experts sitting in member organizations around the world and we are looking at how we can organize this expertise in the most effective way. In 2022, the Global Architecture Workstream will progress six sub-workstreams. These include implementing One Humanitarian Technical Team (OHT) and building cross-functional strategic goal teams.

The Flex OM project is responding to multiple internal and external drivers to adapt how Save the Children delivers change for children and is designing and implementing new operating models such as designing new, legally independent organisations and reviewing how existing models can be adapted to increase the organisations agility and resilience. Most recently in 2022 Flex OM has delivered three new National Office structures in Eastern Europe and Asia.

The TE Transformation & Flex OM Award Manager reports into the Award Management function in SCI Centre but will work day-to-day as part of the Global Architecture Workstream of the TE Transformation Project to provide Award Management expertise to the Workstream as well as supporting the Award Management Workstream Lead in Flex OM with post go live support to National Offices and the design work for new operating models.

In the TE Transformation Project, the Awards Manager would be responsible for assessing all awards and donor compliance impacts, developing a clear risk management plan for any Awards Management risks and for defining new Awards processes/responsibilities, in collaboration with member Awards teams. This role would collaborate with the TE Transformation Finance Business Partner to ensure any Finance requirements gathering, analysis and design for the Global Architecture Workstream meet donor requirements and Awards principles.

In Flex OM, the Award Manager will work closely with the AM Workstream Lead and AMS Advisor to provide post go live support to National Offices and evaluate and capture key learnings for future deployments. In addition, the AM will collaborate with other technical workstream Leads (International Programmes, Legal, Finance and HR) to contribute Award Management expertise into design workshops for other new operating models. Providing support with knowledge management and coordination of stakeholder engagement will also contribute to the success of the project.
