Works closely with: Audit Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Finance, and Audit Departments, Key members of the IEU Senior Management Team, and other country office and alliance-wide staff as necessary to facilitate audit process, audit findings mitigation, and remedial field training responsibilities.

About the Role:

Under the supervision of the Audit Manager, and in close collaboration with alliance-wide staff, this position provides audit and risk management support to the organization. Primary responsibilities include assisting the Audit department by supporting IEU’s internal audit processes, tracking findings mitigation, assisting in remedial field trainings, providing administrative support for audits, and acting as audit support for internal reviews. In addition, this position may support a wide range of other duties within the Enterprise Risk management, and Audit Department.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Audit Manager, support (IEU) internal audits (on-site and desk audits) and risk reviews, including assisting with sample selection, reviewing documentation, identifying issues, and completing work papers.
  • Act as the secondary internal point of contact for IEU external audits, including tracking outstanding auditor requests and internal assignments and providing and reviewing supporting documentation. The role will be expected to support the IEU Audit Manager, Country Office, and Finance Team on all Programme/Donor Audits and the Statutory Audit.
  • Assist in year-round preparation projects to collect data for the annual Statutory Audit.
  • Assist in undertaking periodic (monthly) desktop reviews for Internews Europe HQ operations. Through sample selection, monthly independent checks and balances on the UK numbers with goal of little or nil error in postings.
  • In collaboration with Audit Manager, maintain internal tracking of (IEU) external audit findings and provide project management support for mitigation of findings.
  • Maintain tracking of (IEU) internal audit findings and perform tests on country office transactions as part of the office corrective action plan.
  • Assist in preparing Ad-hoc reports to line management and maintain Audit KPI dashboards for use in reports to internal stakeholders and Board members.
  • Under the guidance of management, assist with developing forms and training materials for use to support business operations.
  • For all internal and external audits, ensure smooth workflow among teams.
  • As part of a team, identify and define emerging risks to the organization.
  • Encourage a management and organizational climate which is aware of and supports ERM.
  • International travel may require up to 4 times per year.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.

Skills and abilities needed to perform role:

Essential:

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience working in an audit environment, preferred.
  • Good grasp of financial accounting., (QBE or a member of the CCAB preferably ACCA, CIA, CFE, ACA)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (good report writing skills)
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications (Advanced Excel)
  • Experience in presenting and discussing information in a logical, professional, and objective manner.
  • Experience of ERP software is desirable.
  • Availability for field travel.
  • K nowledge of the NGO sector is desirable.
  • Track record of effective interaction with colleagues.
  • Good track record in building relationships across a diverse organization.

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of UK Auditing Standards

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Knowledge of a second language such as French/Arabic are nice to have but not required
