Job Description

Purpose: To draft, negotiate and advise on commercial contracts as part of an in-house legal team.

Location: Santa Fe, NM or Albuquerque, NM with travel to Santa Fe during the week

Contributing to the success of our company, the Attorney, Contracts & Administration will draft, negotiate, and advise on a wide variety of commercial contracts and legal matters, ultimately allowing us to manifest Meow Wolf’s mission to inspire creativity through art, exploration, and play so that imagination will transform the world.

As a key member of the legal team and collaborating with all aspects of operations, the Attorney, Contracts & Administration will be responsible for facilitating the prompt execution and enforcement of the Company’s commercial contracts. This professional will help support the Company’s legal needs as it rapidly grows and expands across states. This position reports to the General Counsel.

This individual must be willing and able to work at both the strategic level and at the day-to-day tactical level of a start-up environment. While this position has staff support, the individual must be willing to “roll up their sleeves” and deal with workload in a collaborative and results oriented fashion. As the Attorney, Contracts & Administration, you will be an integral part of our people organization. Your primary responsibilities will include working as part of the Legal team and supporting numerous department, including the Human Resources department with labor relations matters and correspondence.

How You Will Do It…

• Prepare contracts and serve as the primary point of contact for those agreements.
• Review contracts for compliance with Company guidelines.
• Offer legal and strategic advice as requested in many areas of the Company (e.g., marketing, operations, exhibitions, IT, HR, and finance).
• Advance standardized templates and train team members in the administration of new contract requests, including in connection with the implementation of a new contract management system.
• Collaborate with teams and departments to ensure compliance with agreements once executed.
• Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of decisions and courses of action by the General Counsel and management as requested.

To be successful in this role…

• You hold a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.
• You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as legal counsel, preferably both at a firm and in-house.
• You are willing to be an active participant in all levels of work activity.
• You possess an overall broad legal knowledge of commercial contracts and have excellent drafting skills.
• You possess a high degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas.
• You demonstrate excellent judgment and analytical skills and anticipate legal issues and risks.
• You have strong time management skills, and have confidence organizing vast amounts of data.
• You can communicate effectively and succinctly across many different areas of a company spread across numerous states.

Work environment & physical demands…

• This is a full-time position, averaging 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
• This position is based in NM. Ideally, you are licensed to practice law in that state.
• This position generally operates from a professional office environment where a company laptop will be provided.
