Assurance Manager Location: UK Flexible with home working Contract: Permanent Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 based on experience + London weighting (£3,344) if applicable

How you’ll make a difference…

This is a new position which will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to shape the BRC’s assurance function. You’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of an effective Assurance Plan to both support the organisation’s continued compliance with its l egal, regulatory and key contractual obligations and drive continual learning and improvement.

What you will be doing…

Managing a small, newly established, team you’ll work with colleagues across the organisation to develop a clear understanding of the BRC’s obligations and the controls implemented to ensure they are complied with. Based on an assessment of residual risk you’ll design, and be responsible for the delivery of, an effective monitoring and testing programme. You’ll work in partnership with front-line services and other corporate functions to identify actions to address any areas of control weakness and non-compliance ensuring those actions are tracked to completion and deliver both tangible improvement and organisational learning. Working in conjunction with Compliance colleagues across the organisation, you’ll play an important role in developing best practice within the BRC.

What we are looki ng for…

– Experience of managing an assurance function – Experience of designing and delivering an Assurance Plan – An ability to interrogate and interpret regulation – Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills – Proven consultancy ability – analytical, problem solving, and influencing – Ideally, experience of setting up a new assurance team and knowledge and understanding of the charity sector.

About the team

The Assurance Manager will be part of a multi-functional team that brings together Compliance, Corporate Risk, Complaints Investigations, and Incident Management. The team sits within Professional Services; a part of the Internal Services Directorate, Professional Services is responsible for setting standards, providing advice and driving learning and improvement.
