AMERICAS Regional Head of Resource Mobilization

Context

The Resource Mobilization Americas Region is responsible for fundraising in the entire Americas Region among state donors, the private sector and development actors for the ICRC’s mandate and operations worldwide.

Purpose

Support the ambitions of the unit in developing and stewarding fundraising partnerships with donor states and the private sector in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, and with development actors such as the World Bank.

Relationships

Internally, s/he supports Resource Mobilization relationship managers and REM audience’ leads across income streams: government, private sector and development actors. S/he may be required to interact with colleagues in other ICRC departments and units, such as Communication and Operations.

Governments

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

• Assists with the day-to-day management of relations with governments in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, including providing ad-hoc information on projects, funding proposals, meeting arrangements, and email correspondence.
• Assists in the preparation and follow up of bilateral meetings with government donors (mainly Permanent Missions in Geneva). This includes research, preparation of presentations and drafting of follow-up emails and reports/minutes.
• Monitors government contributions to the ICRC and assists in forecasting Latin American and the Caribbean government contributions.
• Assists in the production of a customized monthly newsletter for Latin American and the Caribbean government representatives.

Private Sector

• Supports engagement with the private sector (e.g., individual donors, corporates, foundations and associations) in Latin America, monitoring contributions and prospecting and profiling high-level individual and corporate donors.
• Assists in the production of tailored content for digital donors, including email appeals, newsletters, and online materials in a monthly and/or quarterly basis.
• Translates, proofreads, and edits emails, online campaigns, PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, and online/social media content from English to Spanish.
• Supports the development of digital marketing campaigns to prospects and donors, as requested.
• Assists in fundraising efforts with RCRC National Societies in the Americas Region.

Development Actors

• Assists with the management of relations and projects negotiations with international financial institutions, e.g., the World Bank and the InterAmerican Development Bank.
• Helps drafting and reviewing memorandums of understanding, contracts, and other types of documents with counterparts in the development sector.
• Prepares presentations for meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.

Professional Experience Required

• Prior experience in fundraising, humanitarian action, marketing and/or partnerships management with government, an international organization, or NGO.
• Prior experience with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement desired.

Education required

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., international relations, international law, international economics, international politics, humanitarian action, development, diplomacy, etc.).
• Native-level command of Spanish and proficiency in English. A good command of French desired.
