Organizational context

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is seeking an Associate PSP Officer within the Global Operations Unit of the Division of External Relations’ Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) located in Copenhagen, Denmark.

UNHCR is recruiting an Associate PSP Officer within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Service, Global Operations Unit, sub-contracted under UNOPS in Copenhagen, Denmark. The successful candidate will be based in Copenhagen and work for UNHCR’s External Relations Division, PSP Global Operations, Private Sector Partnerships.

PSP has been operating for over 10 years, working globally with different UNHCR regional and country offices and conducting a variety of activities to fulfil one simple primary purpose: maximize private sector funds while spreading awareness and advocating for a greater understanding of the refugee story, growing a global community in support of refugees and UNHCR.

The Global Operations Unit within PSP coordinates the annual planning process and consolidates, analyses and reports on performance across the fundraising network. The Global Operations Unit supports the PSP network of offices and National Partners, known as PSP operations, in monitoring implementation and the fundraising performance. The team is also responsible for managing the National Growth Fund (NGF), the main source of investment in private sector fundraising programs. The Associate PSP Officer will assist with ensuring the integrity, control, and compliance of financial reports issued by PSP operations.

The position

The Global Operations Unit within PSP coordinates the annual planning process and consolidates, analyses and reports on performance across the fundraising network. The Global Operations Unit supports PSP operations, in monitoring implementation and the fundraising performance. The team is also responsible for managing the National Growth Fund, the main source of investment in private sector fundraising programs. The Associate PSP Officer will assist with ensuring the integrity, control, and compliance of financial reports issued by PSP operations.

Reporting to the PSP Officer (Planning), Global Operations, the Associate PSP Officer will support the team in ensuring that the Annual Planning and Quarterly Reporting processes take place in line with UNHCR and PSP standards and timelines. The Associate PSP Officer will also assist the team in the management of the NGF.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the PSP Officer (Planning), the Associate PSP Officer will:

• Assist in the preparation of implementation agreements with National Partners, dedicated reports, as well as with the preparation of payments;

• Assist in drafting and improving financial reporting guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and manuals for National Partners and other PSP operations aimed at increasing reporting quality and compliance;

• Support the Global Operations Team in the preparation and coordination of activities, meetings and tasks related to the Annual Planning process, including the preparation of documents and reports, and the recording of decisions;

• Support in the preparation and implementation of procurement-related activities;

• Assist the Global Operations Team in overseeing the preparation of performance reports to be completed by PSP operations and National Partners, such as investment fund reports, the Annual Plan and quarterly reports;

• Provide support in ensuring Annual Plans and Reports from PSP operations are submitted, and provide diligent follow-up to make sure deadlines are met and Annual Plans/Reports are complete, accurate and reliable.

• Assist the PSP Officer (Planning) with administrative tasks related to the management of the NGF;

• Provide support to the PSP Global Operations team in drafting reports, meeting minutes, documents and presentations, as needed;

• Perform other related tasks and duties, as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Education

• A university degree in one of the following: Social Science, Finance/Administration, Programme Management or a related discipline.

• Fluency in written and spoken English is required, second language preferred.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years (or 2 for master’s degree holders) of previous relevant work experience in combination with the relevant university degree is required.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit organization and/or exposure to and knowledge of the UN system, preferably with UNHCR, is preferred.
  • Experience in programme management (planning, implementation, monitoring and/or reporting) is a strong advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.

Key Competencies

  • Computer proficiency: advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with SharePoint is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and constructive attitude towards teamwork.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving ability and strong follow-up skills.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.

Location

The successful candidate will be based with the team in the UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Conditions

This position is a full-time role starting from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).

This vacancy is open for both applicants residing in Denmark and for those residents of other countires. The remuneration level and the applicable entitlements and benefits may be different based on the residence of the most suitable selected candidate.
