Position Summary:

Americares Emergency Response program delivers medical assistance and other relief to people affected by natural disasters, civil conflict and disease outbreaks around the world and in the United States. The organization responds to an average of 30 incidents each year, including major disasters such as the current Ukraine Crisis, the Haiti Earthquake, COVID-19 and the Ebola Crisis, as well as regional and localized events that never make the headlines but devastate lives.

Organizational readiness is a key factor for Americares to provide life-saving disaster assistance in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Our ability to respond quickly and effectively around the world is driven by our diverse roster of trained emergency response personnel, country office readiness and preparedness planning. The Associate, Global Roster supports our response readiness through maintaining an active and engaged roster of subject matter experts who are able to deploy at a moment’s notice to support communities and survivors facing disasters. This role ensures there is holistic deployment support during emergency responses and assists in continuous improvement efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with end-to-end roster recruitment, including resume screening and interview scheduling
  • Manage roster member onboarding, working with roster members to complete and maintain required paperwork, training, and member profiles
  • Maintain complete documents/profiles of roster and project data, generate reports, and conduct routine audits
  • Support the day-to-day of our volunteer management systems
  • Support ongoing training efforts and materials for global roster members
  • Support inventory needs as they arise, including equipment movement, procurement, and packing/unpacking Go-Bags from responses
  • Work and collaborate across various stakeholders from across the organization including our Technical Unit, Emergency Response, People and Talent and others as needed
  • Assist with deployment operations as needed, including but not limited to resource management, managing the deployment tracker, and travel support (arrange travel, transportation, and accommodation)
  • Provide ongoing support for roster members through volunteer communication/relations (i.e. manage roster email account and quarterly newsletter)
  • Support the planning and implementation of yearly engagement plan
  • Support global readiness projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 1-3 years professional experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Prior work or office experience preferred, preferably in the fields of Global Health, Emergency Response, or volunteer management
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing and editing
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adaptability to reprioritize focus
  • Utilize creativity while problem solving
  • Able to operate independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Windows environment, particularly MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Additional language fluency a plus
  • Work across various teams and roster members with diverse backgrounds and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
  • A strong mission orientation and a desire to work within the emergency response and global health sector

Compensation:

Our compensation philosophy is grounded in being competitive, equitable, and transparent.

Competitive: The salary range for this position is $46,500 to $50,500.

Equitable: We avoid negotiation within the ranges to create equity across our team, because we know that salary negotiations lead to poorer outcomes for individuals from non-dominant groups and underrepresented communities.

Transparent: We construct our salaries in such a way that staff can move through the range as they grow within their level. As such, most candidates will start at $46,500, with a few above or based on specific skill sets and experiences.
