How You’ll Contribute

The Development team identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards individuals, as well as foundation, government and corporate partners to advance myAgro’s mission of providing food security to smallholder farmers across Africa. The team collaborates across the organization to build transformative and impact-driven strategic partnerships.

Working within the Development team and reporting to the Database Administrator, Development Operations, the Associate is responsible for executing key development systems for the department, supporting the smooth functioning and execution of the activities of our development team. This role ensures that myAgro’s fundraising operations have a strong foundation. The Development Operations Associate role offers the opportunity to learn about all the moving parts of a fast-paced and dynamic fundraising team and builds systems and processes to enable the team to thrive.

Your Impact

Responsibilities Include

  • Creates and maintains internal systems, structures, and processes to streamline and organize the Development team’s activities and workflow;
  • Oversees the structure and quality of the data entered into myAgro’s internal development databases for donor and gift tracking;
  • Supports communications with donors, including call lists and tracking donor correspondence over time;
  • Responsible for all gift processing – entering gifts and pledges in internal donor software, scanning copies of gift entries, and ensuring proper coding of gifts;
  • Acts as a frequent liaison with the Finance team, ensuring consistency and accuracy of tracking development fundraising progress;
  • Manages all gift acknowledgement systems and processes, including timely delivery of acknowledgement letters to donors, in accordance with established protocols;
  • Engages in copy-editing and proof reading for written deliverables, including LOIs, proposals, and grant progress reports;
  • Provides administrative support for development team travel, including booking flights and hotels and planning trip agendas;
  • Research donor leads and background for donor meetings and/or calls;
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Minimum Years and Type of Experience

  • 2+ years experience in development operations/NGOs

Necessary Knowledge and Skills

  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and a desire to build systems that make processes better through continuous improvement;
  • Solutions-oriented and resourceful self-starter that shows determination to solve problems and has the ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to proofread and draft high-quality documents;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, oversee, and complete projects independently;
  • Willingness and aptitude for learning new technology programs and software;
  • Familiar with The Raiser’s Edge or other similar relational database and data entry;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information in a trustworthy and reliable manner;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; other language proficiencies welcomed, and French is a plus.
