Harlem Children’s Zone — a world-renowned non-profit organization based in Harlem, New York City — seeks a highly driven, creative Associate, Design and Marketing to build awareness and support for HCZ through compelling advertising and marketing design.

Reporting to the Manager, Brand Marketing, the Associate, Design and Marketing will join our Communications Team at the forefront of innovation at HCZ — helping establish a world-class visual identity for our world-class brand. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker with excellent design skills who can produce advertising and marketing content across platforms. The individual will join HCZ during a critical phase, as we work to scale our impact and put children across the country on the pathway to social and economic mobility.

What You’ll Do

  • Design advertising and marketing content — primarily bus and subway ads, mailers, and email and website content — that drives participant enrollment, talent recruitment, and philanthropy, among other priorities
  • Support the development and execution of cross-channel marketing strategies encompassing digital and print platforms
  • Conduct market research and analysis, and establishes data management and tracking systems to optimize marketing content
  • Help plan our social media calendar and publish organic and paid posts
  • Work in direct collaboration with the Director, Communications; Manager, Brand Marketing; and our external communications and marketing firm to execute strategies
  • Help steward the HCZ brand, ensuring that all visual representations of HCZ stay true to our brand guidelines

Qualifications, Skills, And Knowledge Requirements

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience using applications to create advertising and marketing content, especially for websites, social media, email, print, and apparel
  • Proficiency in using design software and applications, especially Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Spark)
  • Experience in co-developing advertising and marketing campaigns, and evaluating their outcomes to optimize future campaigns
  • Experience building strong relationships and trust with stakeholders
  • Deep commitment to understanding and addressing the challenges facing underserved communities of color
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities at once
  • Commitment to HCZ values and mission
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

The annual salary range for this position is $65,000-$70,000, with a comprehensive benefits package including employer-covered health insurance.
