Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 3 Years, Fort Lauderdale office of our client seeks an associate attorney with 3-7 years of experience. The candidate leads a team, including a paralegal and claim specialists, in managing and completing all tasks related to a claim. Provides a single point of contact for clients to ask questions and provide information or documentation. Directs and prepares legal correspondence such as letters, demands, and breach notices, and organizes and maintains documents in paper or electronic filing system. Reviews incoming material and independently determines the need for assembly, preparation of a variety of legal documents, and the urgency of tasks. Obtains needed information from clients, files, experts, insurance companies, or another source, and submits completed legal documents to the appropriate attorney. Prepares and tracks legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and appeals. Prepares for hearings, depositions, and trials by performing tasks such as assembling and organizing exhibits and affidavits, and assisting with discovery. Investigates facts and law of cases and search pertinent sources, such as claims files, public records, internet sources, legal databases, and expert reports to determine causes of action and to prepare cases. Meets with clients and other professionals to discuss details of the cases. Gathers and analyzes research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents. Directs and coordinates law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas, service, meetings, etc. Calls upon witnesses to testify at depositions and hearings. Receives visitors and telephone callers. Performs docketing duties such as opening, updating and closing cases through use of the automated case tracking system. Obligates funds for litigation expenses and monitors for continued necessity. Reviews bills and invoices and submits to budget office for payment. Maintains calendar of assigned active cases. Tracks filing, hearing and trial dates, and scheduling conferences and interviews. Arranges travel by preparing an itinerary and securing transportation and hotel reservations. Produces a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office software (including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro). Products include complicated tables, graphs and charts, which may be incorporated into legal documents or courtroom presentations. Ensures proper format, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar in all documents. Utilizes various hardware for scanners and printers. Must have experience working with MyCase or a similar electronic case management system. Florida Bar License is required. Bilingual abilities are a plus. Experience working with insurance companies, managing insurance claims, or litigation related to insurance companies is highly desirable.Additional Skills: The candidate must have a JD degree. Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite, check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw to perform basic legal research. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
