ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Internews seeks a Program Coordinator for the Media Program in Armenia, a media development project focused on strengthening the integrity of the information space in Armenia. The project will enhance the professional and organizational capacity of media outlets to strengthen their editorial independence and increase their reach and impact across Armenian society through quality content. The project will improve the financial viability of editorially independent media and help institutionalize a funding source for public interest media; advance media literacy efforts to empower citizens and civic and political leaders to consume and engage with information critically and understand the role of ethical media. The Project Coordinator will coordinate activities of the project and will report to the Deputy Chief of Party based in Yerevan, Armenia.

LOGISTICS

This role will be based in Yerevan, Armenia. The selected candidate may have the option to work fully in-office, or partially remote (in office 2-3 days per week, and remotely 2-3 days per week).

This is a full-time, limited-duration position, with an expected end date of March 14, 2028.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

  • Under strategic oversight of the Deputy Chief of Party, manage and oversee organization and implementation of project activities.
  • Streamline communication with implementing partners and beneficiaries. Potential duties may include identifying and maintaining contact with local stakeholders such as policymakers, educators, advocates, and civil society organizations (CSOs) along with other responsibilities.
  • Ensure that activities are meeting their goals and targets on time and within budget, recommending program adjustments when necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports in collaboration with implementing partners and Internews team.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with local media and partner organizations throughout the country and ensure that program implementation is responsive to the needs of partners and beneficiaries.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other Internews projects working in Armenia as relevant.
  • Participate in regular project coordination calls with donors on progress of project implementation.
  • Maintain regular communications with Internews headquarters staff to communicate progress on programming and address upcoming issues in advance.
  • Oversee project monitoring and evaluation as assigned to ensure effective implementation and to measure project impact.
  • Ensure the project activities are implemented in compliance with all donor rules, requirements, and regulations, as well as with Internews’ internal policies and procedures.
  • Act in accordance with Internews policies adhering to Internews mission and core values.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing projects and relationships with local media CSO and advocacy partner organizations.
  • Relevant university degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Deep understanding of the media sector in Armenia.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proven organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Fluency in Armenian and English.
  • Experience and familiarity with USG rules and regulations preferred.
