For our Sales Team as a part of the Swiss Market of PMI, we are currently looking for an Area Manager (Romandie region).

In this position, you will be responsible to successfully translate Philip Morris Switzerland strategy into Key Account chains and independent retailers within defined geographical Area, while managing/developing a team of Territory Leads.

You will Share concrete proposals based on bottom-up feedback with Head of National Deployment and Channel/program owners/teams.

Your responsibilities

40% people management

• Build, manage and develop a strong and agile team of 4 to 7 Territory Leads.
• Define individual objectives for team members according to Philip Morris Switzerland priorities.
• Develop and motivate team members by providing adequate/specific training as per individual needs. Ensure retention of top performers and address underperformers in a timely manner.
• Encourage Territory Leads to share feedback from consumers and retailers to improve programs, processes and tools.
• Drive and support the team through the business transformation and adapt when needed based on findings.
• Field visits and shadowing of direct reports to be able to properly assess their performance.
• Prepare and participate in Human Resources meetings such as quarterly feedback, MAP, Calibration and Talent Reviews.

40% Performance management

• Analyze performance vs KPI’s & other areas.
• Analyze Point of Sale (POS) & Retailer performance vs. others in areas, chains.
• Review of Territories action plan (POS to be visited, including priorities based on area characteristics / calls, activities to be performed and short-term objectives to be shared).
• Ensure that activities are performed according to defined action plan and regular follow up on performance.
• Review result of activities
• Share feedback with others (peers, cross-functional workstreams and consumer programs) to improve ways of working.
• Contribute to the definition of Philip Morris Switzerland strategy by actively sharing constructive bottom-up feedback and representing the voice of the retailers, consumers and Territory Leads to improve the programs.

20% Play a key role with counterparts of the accounts and key customers at area level

• Contact counterparts on a regular basis (depending on the account) to develop business base (incl. deployment of programs and activities, development of Premium Partners and other experiential touchpoints, etc.).
• Joined field visit in the chain POS to discuss actions to be taken (follow up on action plan).
• Share results based on performance management analysis.

We’re looking for someone with

• University degree with relevant work experience on Sales
• Minimum 2-year proven track record of people management skills in a sales-related environment
• Strong analytical mindset and critical thinking
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• High priority setting and planning capacities with the ability to react quickly and effectively. Able to deal with ambiguity, autonomous and highly action oriented.
• Organization savviness with ability to connect with business goals and opportunities at different levels
• Proficiency in French and English
