Super Typhoon Odette (International name Rai) categorized as the strongest typhoon hit the Philippines in 2021 (December 16) affecting and displacing families. There are 33,566 persons currently taking temporary shelter in 455 evacuation centers in VI, VII, VIII, X, and Caraga (DSWD DROMIC and an estimated 7,300 reported casualties or missing

The typhoon has hit several Geographically isolated and disadvantaged isolated areas (GIDA), affecting a large number of highly vulnerable people living below or close to the poverty line. The basic needs of communities affected by typhoons remain largely unmet. To address these needs, consortium partners (composed of OXFAM, Save the Children, and HI) were organized to provide lifesaving humanitarian assistance and contribute to increasing the dignity of the most at-risk men, women, children, older people, and persons with disabilities through the provision of shelter, protection, and education in emergency Bohol, Southern Leyte, and Surigao Del Norte Provinces. HI is in charge to implement all activities of the project in 3 municipalities of Bohol and has the technical lead on Protection.
