About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and experienced team of technical professionals who administer and maintain the Councils critical ICT infrastructure. You will assist the Team Manager in supporting and administering the Councils network and voice infrastructure.

About The Role

Pay Details: Apprentice grade

23 and over = £8.91

21 to 22 = £8.36

18 to 20 = £6.56

Under 18 = £4.62

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours Monday to Friday

Main Place of Work: Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry

Temporary Reason: Apprenticeship position up to 18 months

Description:

To assist with the support and administration of the organisations network and voice infrastructure.

You will also work towards an apprenticeship qualification (IT, Software, Web & Telecoms Professionals)

About You

You will need:

  • IT literate with experience of using Microsoft operating systems
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Minimum C Grades in GCSE or equivalent – Maths and English
  • Team player
  • Flexible
  • Ambitious
  • Confident with working with colleagues at all levels of the Council
  • Interest in public services
  • Self-motivated
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Have access to a car for traveling as part of work
  • Able to work from home on a suitable broadband connection.

Knowledge of:

  • Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge how a network operates and the key components which are used to allow it to operate correctly
