Apprentice – Emergency Department Receptionist

We have an exciting opportunity to join our emergency department reception/admin team in our very busy Emergency department as a Business Administrator Apprentice. During the programme

you will work towards the requirements then continue in the role on a band 2 salary. This is a fast-paced role and duties include booking patients into accident and emergency, answering telephone queries, covering all reception duties, filing and scanning documents and liaising with clinical and non-clinical staff. The post is flexible working to cover shifts 24/7, however cross site working will be a must.

Apprenticeship entry requirements: Where a business administrator has not already achieved level 2 functional skills/equivalent English and Math, or equivalent, they must do so before taking the end point assessment.

During the apprenticeship training programme, you will work towards achieving the requirements of the personal specification. The training will be provided in house; all off the job training will be within working hours.

The business administrator apprenticeship will generally take up to 21 months to complete, including end point assessment.

The primary focus of this post is to provide high quality patient centered clerical support within the emergency services department ensuring that all clerical needs of the unit of completed in an appropriate and timely manner. You will be a key member of the Emergency Departmental team providing a front line reception and administration service for patients, relatives and other visitors to the Trust 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also you will be required to provide cover for annual leave and sickness in order to deliver a 7 day week service including bank holiday. You are required to be flexible and will be providing a comprehensive administrative service covering all aspects of the Emergency Department
