Internews Network

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Amazon Editor will assist in the leadership and implementation of the Conservando Juntos (Conservation Together) project being carried out in the Western Amazon region by Internews’ Americas Program Management Unit in collaboration with Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN). The Editor will oversee the content produced by the project – with the goal of distributing these stories in local and regional media outlets – and manage the editing, story grant and story distribution process. The Amazon Editor should be a native Spanish speaker, but also preferably be fluent in English. The position will report to the project manager but will work in close coordination with the EJN Editor, and coordinate activities with both the Americas and EJN teams, including their social media teams.

LOGISTICS

This is a remote-based position, and preference will be given to candidates in one of the project’s focal countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador or Perú. All remote candidates will be considered. However, you must have work authorization in your location that does not require sponsorship from Internews. Additionally, there are locations in which Internews is not able to support fully remote work.

Wherever possible, we work to try to find solutions for international hiring that work for both the company and the candidate. This means that some fo the particulars around the offer for a role will be dependent on several factors, and that the benefits and salary structure that apply to a position will ultimately be based upon the candidate’s location and where the role is hired.

This is a term position, with an expected term of 12 months. This position may be extended. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so candidates are encouraged to apply soon.
