A day in the life of a Agriculture & Food Security Project Manager

In the role of Agriculture & Food Security Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Direct and oversee the Agricultural livelihoods and Food security sector of the BHA Program within given budgets and project deadlines, ensuring that all food assistance & agriculture objectives are met through proper planning, staffing, and implementation in collaboration with the Chief of Party
  • Organize and direct the work of Agricultural livelihoods and Food security sector staff, providing supervision, training, and performance appraisals.
  • Establish and maintain effective project reporting, evaluation, and communication systems in collaboration with chief of Party and other support teams
  • Submit timely, accurate, and professional program reports that meet Samaritan’s Purse and donor requirements.
  • Ensure project activities comply with National, Samaritan’s Purse and USAID standards.
  • Support the direct supervision in managing project budget within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to appropriate Samaritan’s Purse DRC and International Headquarter staff.
  • Coordinate with Logistics Department to ensure verifiable records for the procurement, transportation, delivery and receipt of project inputs at the respective field sites.
  • Discuss plans and strategies with relevant stakeholders, including government authorities, UN agencies, other humanitarian actors and Samaritan’s Purse partners, to ensure proper understanding and coordination of project objectives.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or a minimum of four (4) to five (5) years experience in humanitarian/development agriculture and related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Fluency in French strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with the aid system and ability to understand donor and governmental requirements.
  • Previous experience working with food assistance and/or agricultural programs and/or community-based programming in Africa
  • Ability to network and build relationships with government, civil society, and community partners
  • Strong Knowledge of the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance rules and regulations
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies

Job Location: Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

Type: Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); French (strongly preferred)

Accompaniment: Family Accompaniment

Travel Expectations: 50% of time devoted to travel within DRC
