AEDC Engineering Internships

Axient is seeking an AEDC Engineering Intern to support our customer in Tullahoma, TN.

Responsibilities

AEDC operates roughly 70 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges, and other specialized units located in eight states.

Many of the complex’s test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world.

The positions being filled will support work at Arnold AFB within one or more technical areas, including aerodynamics, aeropropulsion, hypersonics, space, test systems support, and test analysis. Interns will support engineers and/or analysts in completing various aspects of testing support.

The goal of the internship is to provide the selected candiates with a diverse experience which can not be obtained anywhere else, and to find hard working engineers for future full time position openings.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled at an accredited university in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a technical field, preferably engineering.
• Must have completed at least two years of education at the college level.
• Must have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (granting of interim clearance required before beginning work).
• Must demonstrate personal integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be able to take instruction and possess above average communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively whether being directly supervised, working within a group, or working alone.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous work experience or previous experience as an intern in a contractor environment is desirable but not a requirement.
• Prefer candidates that have completed thermodynamics, compresible flow, statics, particle dynamics, and programming coursework.
• Experience using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience using Python and/or MATLAB programming languages.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
