NGO & MISSION PRESENTATION

U-Saved UA is an Ukrainian NGO network created after the 2022 offensive. U-Saved has immediately supported frontline activities to target the most in need in the east of the country, on the frontline as in Hard-to-Reach areas. It has been inspired by the exceptional solidarity the Ukrainian population immediately demonstrated at the beginning of the war, mobilizing everywhere to distribute humanitarian aid through a unique network of volunteers.

The main objective of U-Saved’s actions is to seek greater efficiency of action through an aid localization approach with a strong mandate of capacity building of local volunteer groups. To do so, our partners are part of our organization and decision-making process. All this for a greater and better quality of aid brought to the populations in need.

U-Saved is looking for an experienced Advocacy Officer based in Dnipro who will support us in the achievement of our objectives.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Advocacy Officer, you report directly to the Country Director. You will be in charge of overseeing Advocacy activities and campaign in front of Ukrainian authorities, international donors, press and medias, volunteer groups and partners.

GLOBAL POLICY/ADVOCACY TASKS

  • Lead U-Saved advocacy and communication efforts and ensure policy positions concerning localization, innovative financing models, and operational development and research efforts, grounded in reality.
  • Build a network with advocacy and other relevant staff in external agencies (Ukrainian humanitarian organizations and CSOs, INGOs, Donors, UN bodies, etc.).
  • Stay up-to-date on localization conversations at the global, regional and local levels.
  • Support information management, ensuring information sharing and timely dissemination, including ensuring highly engaged and responsive social media presence of U-Saved.
  • Work with U-Saved members on the identification of their advocacy needs and support the drafting of policy papers relating to relevant issues identified by U-Saved.
  • Represent U-Saved externally at policy and advocacy related events and meetings, as well as with outside parties interested in the overarching policy issues regarding the work of both the humanitarian and development community.
  • Be responsible for arranging and managing monthly meetings, including sharing of meeting minutes and disseminating any information and materials (with consent of member organizations and respect for information sharing protocols).
  • Draft concept notes and proposals as required in support of U-Saved advocacy efforts

SPECIFIC ADVOCACY ON UKRAINIAN VOLUNTEERS NETWORK

  • Develop and implement a campaigning strategy and galvanize action, both on and offline, for Ukrainian volunteer work recognition at a national and international level.
  • Create online content and using digital and social media tools to grow support for and inspire action on volunteer campaigns’ and advocacy areas.
  • Map the Ukrainian existing volunteer’s organizations network active in the humanitarian, reconstruction, development, peace building, civil society mobilization sectors.
  • Build relationships with external partners and allies to ensure the advancement of U-Saved agenda on volunteer advocacy and especially develop private partnerships for external communications.
  • Gather the volunteer network in a first mobilization event to define coming advocacy strategy and events organization.
  • Develop a strategy and implement a national mobilization event with all necessary partnerships.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • A diploma in Law, Mass Communications and Journalism, Media Studies, Development Communication or relevant discipline.
  • At least 2 years working experience of related advocacy and communication employment/assignment.
  • Experience in implementing organizational advocacy and communication strategies; coordinating communication and advocacy activities in NGO related contexts.
  • Strong ability to build relationships internally and externally such as networking, negotiation and communication;
  • Ability to deliver oral presentations to various audiences.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory (oral and written)
  • Command of Microsoft Office suite (Excel mandatory),
  • Command on graphic design, picture and movie editing softwares is an asset.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Status: Employee/FOP
  • Contract: Fixed-term contract
  • Duration: 6 months renewable
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
  • Position based in Dnipro, full time,
  • Movements to Kiev and other necessary professional events when necessary.
