Mission
Since 2003, ACTED has been working in Iraq to provide humanitarian support to vulnerable populations through a multi-sectoral response to the Syrian refugee crisis and the Iraqi mass displacement challenges. ACTED teams in Iraq implement a comprehensive response ranging from emergency and camp management activities to reconstruction, stabilization, and resilience programmes across 15 governorates.
HIERARCHICAL RELATIONS
Under the authority of:
Youth Empowerment and Engagement Project Manager (YEEPM)
Responsible for:
Planning advocacy activities under the youth engagement and empowerment project in Dohuk. In addition to support and implementation of the project activities.

OBJECTIVES
- Implementation of project activities in the youth center and ensuring the achievement of the expected results.
Planning and implementing advocacy activities, in addition to developing youth advocacy tools.
FUNCTIONS
- Participate in the planning process, supervision, and implementation of the project activities, in accordance with project objectives and targets outlined in the project scope of work.
- Implement trainings and capacity building on youth empowerment and youth engagement.
- Provide the necessary technical support to project staff, with focus on support for youth empowerment programming and advocacy.
- Support in conducting trainings and workshops to youth on Life skills, employability, entrepreneurship and active citizenship and advocacy topics.
- Support in conducting needs assessments, awareness raising and information activities.
- Develop the youth advocacy activities tools.
- Provide continues inputs, facilitation, and evaluation of the implementation of creative communication initiatives, child rights monitoring and advocacy activities conducted by youth and staff.
- Conduct Community Events to promote Youth Engagement and participation through advocacy campaigns.
- Assist the project staff in conducting assessment and project analysis
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, pedagogy, international relations, community development with focus on children and/or youth or any related field.
- Languages: fluency in written and spoken English, Arabic and Kurdish.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant NGOs’ experience (working in the education and youth skills development and advocacy positions).
- Knowledge of the advocacy tools and systems in relation to youth and adolescents’ contexts and their needs.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft office suite, online applications.
- Graphic design tools such as the adobe suite will be an extra asset.
- Experience in capacity building of youth.
- Strong organizational and reporting skills.
- Self-motivated, strong team player.
- Familiarity with Humanitarian Principles, Protection Principles and internationally recognized minimum standards in Child Protection, in particular the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- Familiarity with the Ministry of Culture and Youth, Directorate of Youth.
- Experience of facilitating and conducting trainings.
- Ability to work under time pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
- Patience, good personal organization, good communication and ability to work in teams.
