About Bahar:

Bahar Organization is an independent non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aid to vulnerable people without any discrimination in all its forms. BO is operating to respond to the needs and basic requirements of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic living standards of the affected population by delivering humanitarian aid based on the needs.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare briefs, press releases, and other outreach content as necessary (e.g., inputs/notes requested by the organization’s leadership, partners/stakeholders, response briefs, etc.)
  • Coordinating the timely content development of a monthly/ quarterly newsletter with the program colleagues and managing an editorial calendar for the proposed content and themes.
  • Facilitate translation of advocacy policy and strategy into tasks and products and ensure their effective and timely implementation.
  • Responsible for compiling information and synthesizing findings for reports, briefs, and for engagement with relevant stakeholders
  • Conduct desk research, literature reviews, and other research analysis serving advocacy agenda.
  • Lead the implementation of media and communication strategy to ensure that Bahar’s values, vision, and programs are well reflected.
  • Lead the process of producing annual reports and outreach presentations.
  • Actively engage with advocacy actors, networks, and forums.

Academic Qualification/s and Professional Experience:

  • BSc/BA diploma in journalism, public policy, or a relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus.
  • At least 2 years experience in communications and advocacy roles.
  • Substantial experience working in a complex conflict environment.
  • Proven ability in strategic planning and thinking.
  • Knowledge of social media tools, Google Analytics, and content management systems.
  • Proven experience in producing and writing material for online dissemination, including for social media channels and formal reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining social media campaigns is desirable
  • Experience working in the Syrian context is a plus.

Required Skills and Capabilities:

  • Language proficiency: Advanced (reading, writing, and speaking) English, Arabic is preferrable.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.
  • Adhering to the organization’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives; commitment to humanitarian principles and actions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to synthesize.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to details and multitasking skills.
  • English native speakers are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
