CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Advocacy, communication and reporting assistant will be responsible to build relationships with the relevant stakeholders that have been identified for the project specific and country office campaigns and initiatives. Under the supervision of Coordinator Advocacy & Innovation, ensure that all internal and external communication is effectively implemented and in compliance with Save the Children communication guidelines.

The position holder will provide support to HBCC project team in designing communication and visibility materials, photographing projects activities, projects’ briefs, review & designing of baseline & end line projects’ reports, and to prepare & ensure high quality reporting to donors/stakeholders.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Advocacy and Campaigning

  • Support the Advocacy and Communications team /take lead (wherever is appropriate/agreed time to time) to rollout operational work plan of programme Advocacy & Campaigns which includes a detailed timeline of activities.
  • Work jointly with the Coordinator Advocacy & Innovation on organization and implementation of Campaign and Advocacy initiatives, communications and events.
  • Coordinate Save the Children information displays at advocacy events.
  • Assist HBCC project manager in identifying and coordinating for opportunities to promote the campaign objectives through industry networks, events, and collaborations on international celebration days.

Communications & Reporting

  • Support teams in the development of communications materials (including program brochures, briefs, Country Office information, videos and other promotional products).
  • Provide support to teams to produce and promote case studies and success stories which highlight the HBCC project achievements.
  • Coordinate and take initiative to disseminate Save the Children information and materials both internally and externally (including sharing publications, videos and other products).
  • Provide information to programme teams on Save the Children and donor branding requirements to ensure correct visibility on all publications and materials.
  • Maintain documentation, photographic and video libraries.
  • Support Communications Team in creating, editing, and posting creative content on Save the Children’s Twitter, Facebook platforms using translated technical content and program updates.
  • Provide technical support in creating and publishing hygiene and behaviour change communication content.
  • Produce quality media engagement materials, including media packs, press releases, and information sheets.
  • Assist in implementation and monitoring of communications strategy and plans for projects and implementing partner offices.
  • Support to implementation of strategies that increase SC’s visibility to diverse audiences, expanding digital information sharing capacity, and contribute to strengthening internal communication systems.
  • Provide technical support to field staff, program teams and implementing partners for ensuring branding compliance as per organization/donor guidelines.
  • Provide technical support to field staff, program teams and implementing partners in developing high quality IEC material, profiling of their programmatic achievements.
  • Offer administrative support to the Communications Team in tracking products and materials according to deadlines while updating the SharePoint folder
  • Engage with vendors for translation of promotional and visibility materials as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Media, Communications, Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences or any other relevant area of study.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • One to two years of experience working as a communications professional for a non-profit, for-profit, or government agency; or related professional experience.
  • Experience in dealing with media and effective liaison experience with external organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills; written and oral; able to write a high quality content.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator/InDesign and basic video editing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, creative applications.
