ABOUT MEDGLOBAL

MedGlobal was founded in June 2017 by physicians who are experienced in humanitarian medicine to address the health needs of the most vulnerable across the world. MedGlobal is an international medical non-profit organization providing health services to people in need, including refugees and displaced persons, in disaster and underserved regions. The organization is composed of medical and public health volunteers of diverse backgrounds.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

MedGlobal is seeking an Advocacy Assistant Intern to work under our Advocacy Manager. This is an opportunity to learn from a multi-disciplinary team of skilled professionals while contributing to MedGlobal’s provision of free, high-quality healthcare to refugees, internally displaced people, victims of natural and human-made disasters, and indigent populations in developing countries worldwide.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Play a leading role in writing, developing, and collecting content for blog posts, reports, updates, press releases, newsletters, and other resources.
  • Create a weekly Situation Update related to the key political, humanitarian, and human rights events in the countries of our areas of focus.
  • Compile on a weekly basis the Humanitarian Weekly Digest on the website.
  • Assist with the development of media opportunities and outreach.
  • Build and develop media lists on a national and local level.
  • Compile on a monthly basis MedGlobal’s media coverage and policy participation.
  • Research and attend issue-related events (webinars) and provide updates accordingly.
  • Support in the organization of policy-related events by MedGlobal, including webinars and the live stream program.
  • Participate and support the Advocacy Manager in meetings with different partners and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the overall functionality of MedGlobal by assisting with other tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to manage multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Detail-oriented, procedural in workflow, aptitude for accuracy
  • Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in WordPress, Canva, Slack, and/or MailChimp desired
  • Experience in drafting reports, essays, blog posts, or other content
  • Ability to achieve results while working independently
  • Strong academic or professional experience with international relations, public policy, public health, advocacy, or journalism desired
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
  • Proficiency in Arabic or Spanish is a plus

Please note that this intern position is unpaid and fully remote. We are requesting the following availability: ● For summer intern (6+ weeks in July, August, and/or September) ○ 15+ hours per week (e.g. 3 hours per day, 5 days per week) ● For fall, winter, and/or spring intern (12+ weeks beginning September or later) ○ 10+ hours per week
