People in Need (PIN) is calling for applications for the position of an Advocacy and Partnerships Specialist within the Centre for Human rights and Democracy. The primary goal of People in Need’s Centre for Human Rights and Democracy is to support independent individuals and groups in countries with repressive regimes who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society in countries that are going through democratic transformation.

Duration: one year (with the possibility of an extension, depending on funding)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role of the Advocacy and Partnerships Specialist is to build, maintain and promote the role of PIN as an expert in the delivery of the human rights programming globally. The position holder will be responsible for the implementation of the fundraising plan, in cooperation with the Centre’s management and project teams. This will involve: developing strategic partnerships with key partners to elicit support and maximize impact; helping identifying fundraising opportunities; representing Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in carious international and national fora.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Building trusted relationships with donors, strengthening existing relationships and building new relationships. Aims to influence donor priorities and approach and secure sustainable funding.
• Coordinating and collaborating with fellow democracy support and protection actors through networks, strengthening collective action in the sector and raising PIN’s profile as proactive and outward facing partner.
• Ensuring that wider Centre’s team has an understanding of funding and partnership opportunities.
• Conducting advocacy focused on the institutions of the Czech Republic, EU, the UN and OSCE.
• Supporting regional programs in project proposal writing.
• Frequent travels abroad (average of once a month).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University degree in the field of international relations, law, journalism, media management, communication, political science or other relevant fields.
• Fluency in English. Native or non-native knowledge of Czech and/or Spanish is also welcome, but not essential.
• At least three years’ experience at national or international level of advocacy and/or fundraising.
• Good insight and understanding of the international political landscape and challenges for independent activists and journalists.
• Ability to work under stress.
• Good presentation and communication skills.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Effectively work independently and as a team member, ability to work closely with colleagues abroad, self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals.
