Background

As a global organization, that has grown significantly in size over the past decade, CRS is now comprised of almost 7,000 people from over 100 countries who collaborate to catalyze transformational change. Four Strategic Approaches that will enable the agency to achieve the Vision 2030 Strategy have been identified. One key Strategic Approach is to build a more agile, innovative, and impactful organization. The Global Employee Experience Center of Excellence (CoE) within the Global People Resources (GPR) team is integral to shaping this more agile, innovative and impactful agency. The Employee Experience CoE aims to understand and improve how staff experience their journey with CRS and create a consistent, positive, high-quality, experience of Global People Resources/HR service and support for every employee in each location.

Job Summary

The Senior Advisor for Staff Care and Wellbeing serves as CRS’ subject matter expert on staff care and wellbeing. You are responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive approach to supporting staff care and wellbeing throughout the employee lifecycle at CRS. The Senior Advisor develops and puts in place a strategy for implementing CRS’ Staff Care Principles, reports on how these principles are being upheld, and coordinates continuous improvement. You will ensure that colleagues, including CRS leaders and GPR colleagues in all CRS locations, have access to tools and resources to support wellbeing during key moments, including life events, times of transition, high stress, and/or high workload.

Role and Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and monitor CRS’ overall approach to staff care throughout the employee lifecycle.Finalize and launch CRS’ Staff Care Principles, ensuring alignment with CRS mission, values, Agency Vision 2030 strategy, and GPR strategy. Ensure coordination of priorities and associated activities that advance Staff Care Principles across divisions. Raise awareness of standards and report on progress and continuous improvement efforts.
  2. Review CRS policies, procedures, and operational guidance to ensure appropriate integration of staff care and stress mitigation.
  3. Develop general guidance on integrating staff care into program proposals and budgets.
  4. Actively consult, collaborate and coordinate with internal stakeholders across divisions to ensure integration of staff care and wellbeing into relevant Agency programs, resources, and initiatives.
  5. Develop general guidance on how staff care and wellbeing can be integrated into the strategies of CRS locations and departments; provide additional consultative support upon request.

Develop, strengthen, and promote learning opportunities that strengthen leader and colleague awareness of staff care and wellbeing, and build related skills.Build out trainings/learning opportunities, drawing upon existing efforts in use across the Agency and seeking opportunities to integrate with learning and development programs coordinated by other GPR units and other divisions; train trainers or directly facilitate learning sessions, as needed.
  2. In coordination with Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) and Regional People Officers (RPOs), proactively reach out to teams that may be experiencing moments of high stress or workload and respond to team requests to provide trainings/sessions related to wellbeing and resilience.
  3. Coordinate with Benefits team when existing vendors offer appropriate services or provide guidance on vetting external service providers as needed to meet local needs while ensuring alignment with overall CRS approach. Provide guidance on topics/approaches for associated presentations/webinars.
  4. Use communication strategies to reinforce staff messaging about resources and approaches to maintaining and strengthening wellbeing.

Develop CRS’ understanding of the global employee experience during life events and times of transition (e.g., transfer, promotion, death of a colleague, birth of a child)Identify key related meaningful moments in the employee journey and define CRS’ approach for ensuring that the way our colleagues’ experience the Agency during these times reinforce our culture and values.
  2. Develop associated guidance and tools for leaders, managers, HRBPs, RPOs, and HR Managers in CRS locations.
  3. Create and deploy measurement tools to understand the employee experience at these moments, analyze and share results, and use these results to continuously improve our approach and its implementation.
  4. Provide consultative support and partnership to Global Staff Safety and Security Unit (GSSU), Humanitarian response Department (HRD) and Ethics Unit during critical incidents; serve as member of critical incident teams as needed; once “critical” or “emergency” phase of an incident is over, facilitate smooth handover from GSSU to GPR community for ongoing follow-up over the medium- to long-term.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field, such as psychology, counseling, social work, or health, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated related experience in a global organization

Required Languages –English. French, Spanish, or Arabic a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of duty-of-care concepts and their organizational implications
  • Skilled facilitator with demonstrated experience in training design and/or adult learning
  • Effective and flexible communication skills, including cross-cultural communications skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, incorporating and balancing complex and sometimes varying viewpoints
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to design and manage a project through to completion
  • Ability to lead through influence
  • Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in low-resource and/or high security settings
  • Experience leading successful project implementations
  • PhD. in related field
