Save the Children invites applications for the above-mentioned position for Shobai Miley Shikhi (Everyone Learns Together) Program in Bangladesh. The program aims to improve learning outcomes for ‘children with disabilities (CWD)’ in Bangladesh. To achieve these outcomes, key focus areas will be to strengthen service delivery of disability-inclusive education and create inclusive school environments and instruction for children with disabilities to improve learning outcomes. In addition, the program will support a small number of private schools, and models which will also be tested to identify approaches through the non-formal system including non-formal education centers and community groups to improve learning outcomes for CWDs.

The Opportunity

The Advisor will be responsible for ensuring timely and high quality, submission of project deliverables, including work plans, quarterly and annual reports, and other reports or documentation required by the donor. S/he will provide technical support to implementing partners and develop/adapt technical resources including technology solutions and training materials as needed, conduct training of trainers on community engagement.

Some other key areas of responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing studies expected to build the knowledge and evidence base around disability-inclusive education and ensure benchmarks are established
  • Facilitate, engage with, and respond in a timely manner to the needs of school staff, local government, regional and community partners.
  • Establish relationships for parents/caregivers of children with disabilities and other disability stakeholders to connect with parent-teacher groups at schools to foster a shared understanding of disability-related issues and actions.
  • Provide direct technical assistance and/or capacity building as needed.
  • Represent Save the Children in various meetings with regional and national partners and other stakeholders in support of disability-inclusive education.

    Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum of 7 years proven experience in development sector, preferably working on community education activities in Bangladesh

  • Experience in USAID-funded program education is preferred

  • Prior experience working in a combination of the area(s) of special education, disability focused inclusive education, community mobilization, primary education, or literacy programming

  • Experience managing a diverse team with strong interpersonal skills is required

  • Proven experience working collaboratively with partners and building capacity of government bodies and local NGOs

  • Fluent oral and strong analytical, written English communications skills is required.

  • Master’s Degree, preferably in International Development/Social Science and/or Inclusive/Special Education or relevant discipline
