CONTEXT

Oxfam-Quebec is implementing its new volunteer cooperation program (VCP) entitled « Equality in Action » working in close collaboration with Oxfam teams in the countries of intervention. This program will take place over a period of seven years (2020-2027) in thirteen countries and three regions.

The VCP aims to increase the performance of local partner organizations in developing countries in implementing inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality in the 13 countries. Oxfam’s role is to support civil society organizations (CSOs) working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam puts women’s/girls’ rights at the heart of everything it does. The knowledge, capacity and expertise of the qualified volunteers will be leveraged through short and long-term assignments with local partner organizations.

The VCP will be articulated within Oxfam’s Country Strategy while ensuring compliance with Oxfam-Québec’s contractual agreements with its donors.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In close collaboration with the Oxfam team members in the country of intervention, the volunteer will be responsible to:

· Lead fundraising activities of Partners and OXFAM in Ghana.

· Build capacity of partners in resources mobilization.

· Support in development and implementation of Resource Mobilisation Strategy for partners.

· Produce Resource Mobilisation Reports and Plans in collaboration with the Partners.

· Research and identify relevant resources including Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Applications (RFAs), guide and coordinate responses in collaboration with relevant OXFAM staff, volunteers and partners in Ghana and OXFAM International.

· Lead the writing of compelling proposals and concepts and engage in effective communication with donors’ focal points.

· Serve as the focal point for resource mobilisation and sustainability activities of the partners.

· Provide support for OXFAM activities in Ghana and Quebec.

· Liaise with programme leads to undertake fact-finding missions and develop context analysis in relation to programme development.

· Support Oxfam in Ghana in identifying/creating new innovative funding opportunities.

· Stay abreast of trends in new funding opportunities and share those within the Oxfam Ghana team and partners.

· Share and embody Oxfam’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for any behaviour that violates the code of conduct, including sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, intimidation, lack of integrity, corruption and fraud.

· Participate in development efforts in Canada during and after the mandate by contributing to the dissemination of the program, projects, partners, etc. through testimonials, life stories, photos, quotes, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

· Have Canadian citizenship or citizenship of a country in West Africa.

· Master’s degree in relevant areas (Humanities, Business Administration, Economics) or proven experience at this level.

· 3-5 years of relevant experience.

· A good understanding of NGO financing in Africa.

· Have a good understanding of the procedures of donors and international development organizations.

· Excellent analytical and communication abilities, as well as the ability to write high-quality proposals, reports, and concept papers.

· Interpersonal skills and the capacity to collaborate in multi-cultural teams are important.

· Fluency in English is a requirement. Language skills in French will be an added advantage.

· Proven effective communication, presentation, and writing capabilities, as well as the ability to communicate professionally at all levels within and beyond OXFAM.

· Demonstrated capacity to cross and bridge cultural, racial, and gender divides.

· Significant capacity building and training experience.

· Knowledge of the West African culture and context (desirable).

· Experience in international development (an asset)

· Adherence to Oxfam’s mission and values, including the promotion of equality between women and men.
