UN Volunteers

Under the direct supervision of the Child Participation Officer, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

• Work together with the team to ensure U-Report is fully operational and functional; management of U-Report Romania accounts, Rapid Pro, and website. • Develop and monitor U-Report content, polling, and chat bot on the different channels (e.g., Facebook and WhatsApp) on a daily basis and evaluate the data and outcomes.

• Ensure children and young people’s engagement under U-Report – Coordination of participation from adolescents and children, gathering inputs, ideas, suggestions for the use of U-Report as well as inputs to other relevant programmatic areas (as peers).

• Stay connected to the global/regional community and attend webinars to keep abreast of latest organizational and partners policy change.

• Produce reports, data analytics, and other relevant documents instrumental in making U-Report a relevant and systematic tool for participation and engagement.

• Liaise with the Adolescent and Youth Engagement Officer to ensure both Romanian and Ukrainian versions are in line with the programmatic needs and are complementary.

• Provide technical and operational support to the continuity and scale-up of the U-Report platform for children and young people in Romania; this includes integration with the national refugee response interventions.

• Contribute to the overall quality and relevance of materials by providing translation and proof-reading support but also suggesting a language tailored for the target audiences – children, adolescents, and young people; support for translation (English-Romanian) will be required when necessary.

• Help in disseminating and promoting the platform, including support to produce communication products, materials, and designs; ensure coordination with programmatic areas specialists (Protection, Education, Health, SBC, etc.) for technical support and guidance on content and approaches.

• Support community management in Romanian language for the online platforms used under the U-Report tool.

• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Results/Expected Outputs:

• As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, beneficiary-friendly, and high-quality support provided to our interventions in the accomplishment of her/his function.

• U-Report Romania platform is technically supported and functional.

• U-Report Romania in Romanian language is operational and provides the support needed to the targeted community of beneficiaries, including key messages and two-way communication.

• Support provided to Ukrainian refugee children and young people in Romania for their consultation and active participation in UNICEF’s work and interventions.

• Timely documents are being drafted and leveraged to influence policy and decision-making.

• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment

• A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.
