Position: Activity Coordinator and Support

Program: Youth Leadership for Democracy (YouthLed) – Youth Leadership Development component

A. Project Background

The Youth Leadership for Democracy (YouthLed) is a five-year program being implemented by The Asia Foundation (TAF) and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). YouthLed aims to increase and improve civic engagement through its three main components: leadership development, coalition-building, and civic education & engagement activities in contexts that are relevant to the youth, while supporting their meaningful participation in democratic governance. The results of these components will contribute to strengthening democratic governance goal of the USAID-Philippines’ Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS).

YouthLed’s Youth Leadership Development component’s objective is to increase Filipino youth leadership capabilities so that they can:

  1. Stand as leaders for other Filipino youth, particularly in building a better Philippines (Bukas)

  2. Drive the formation and mobilization of youth coalitions and other youth leaders (Tayo)

  3. Achieve objectives and make impact aligned with their personal and organizational advocacies (Aksyon)

This objective aims to enable Filipino young leaders to meaningfully assert their interests, overcome obstacles to participation, and create opportunities to expand their influence through political processes. This will be made possible through the following main activities:

  • Management and monitoring of the YouthLed’s flagship leadership development program: the Leadership and Democracy Fellowship (LEAD Fellowship).

  • Development and implementation of capacity development activities for youth leaders in the 12 coalition clusters.

  • Convening the annual YouthLed Youth Leaders’ Summit as capstone for youth leaders and organizations engaged by YouthLed

B. Rationale

Given the scope of work in coordination for the strategies and activities on various areas such as information dissemination, logistical alignment, etc., the YouthLed team is looking to add a support person for the Youth Leadership Development component. This role is meant to focus on backend work for the Youth Leadership Development, as well as provide similar support for other YL activities that involve information management and processing. The addition of this role will help the YL team focus more on the strategic aspects of the program, such as coordinating with partners on growth of the activities and ensuring that each activity is driving towards the stated objectives.
