Responsibilities Include
- Assist with the preparation of monthly reporting and accounting duties related to operating, capital/debt, payroll & benefits, commodity tax, investments and performance reporting
- Assist with the budget preparation process
- Prepare basic accounting entries
- Assist in the review and analysis of financial systems
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accounting degree program (3rd or 4th year)
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, requirements and practices
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
- Demonstrated ability to check and record financial transactions and prepare financial reports with proven attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications (Sheets, Docs, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and with little supervision at times
- Experience in preparing a variety of complex and diverse financial statements, reports, and analysis of accounting data is an asset
- Understanding of Canadian public sector accounting standards is an asset
- Knowledge of corporate financial systems and their relationship to departmental accounting operations is an asset
- Access to high-speed internet while working from home
- This position will be a combination of working from home and on-site working conditions. All working conditions will follow the Government of Alberta health recommendations

Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week, Monday – Friday
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
Salary: $19.749 – 25.135 (Hourly)
