Background

In conjunction with the Finance Director, executes finance policies and activities. Coordinates with international offices as needed. The Accounting Manager reports directly to the iMMAP Finance Director. This position is a hybrid role and requires the Accounting Manager in the D.C office 2 days a week.

Description of Duties

Managing the monthly and year-end close process

2.Prepares and reviews day-to-day and month end close entries, including fringe,indirect, investment allocations and grant allocations

3.Maintaining General Ledger accounts and preparing journal entries for prepaidinsurance expense, accruals, and other adjusting entries

4.Lead in preparation of schedules and support for the annual 990 tax filings

5.Lead in preparations for the annual audit, communicating with auditors, preparingschedules, financial statements, and notes, responding to auditors’ inquiries andfollowing up

6.Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements including balance sheet,income statement, statement of functional expenses and other reporting.

7.Supporting and mentoring Junior finance field officers and reviewing their workas needed

8.Review accounting information and internal controls to ensure compliance withUS GAAP and Uniform Guidance

9.Reconciliation and posting of Payroll to include preparation of journal entries and otherrelated worksheets.

10.Assist with the management of contract & grant administration function for complexportfolio including Federal Government grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts,cost share agreements, MOUs, foreign and international agency grants and other grantsand contracts.

11.Generate financial reports in compliance with United States government and otherfunder regulations and requirements.

12.Guide project directors in interpretation of and compliance with award regulations

including but not limited to 2 CRF Uniform Guidance 200, FAR, USAID ADS, and AIDAR. 13.Ensure timely time sheet and expense report submissions and posting

14.Approve end-of-month vendor invoices for assigned projects.

15.Post and process field office cash books and local bank statement reconciliations

16.As needed, preparation of reports for insurance company and other vendors

17.Assist with cash management, revenue, and payables management

18.Manage, process, and reconcile travel advances and liaise with consultants onoutstanding issues

19.Review of proper coding and posting of financial transactions

20.Back-up for support of field office/country registrations process

21.Prepare award briefs for externally funded projects for Project Directors.

22.Assist with preparation of monthly invoicing and drawdowns for specific awards asneeded.

23.Maintain open and frequent communication with field office Finance Officers, andconduct financial briefings in accordance with iMMAP and funder policies andregulations

24.Conduct field office visits to ensure compliance with iMMAP and funder policies andregulations

25.Provide guidance to iMMAP’s Administrative/Finance Assistant

26.Other finance tasks that may arise

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required and at least five years’ experience working in a Non-profit accounting team is desired.

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently, well-organized, and able to work under pressure and meet frequent deadlines. Must have a self-motivating personality and work in a spirit of cooperation to improve office processes and the work environment for the benefit of all.

Demonstrated reliability regarding attendance and work performance

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people from diverse backgrounds

Courteous and professional demeanor with experience providing customer service.

Experience in organizing and filing informationAttention to detail and ability to follow up on tasks to completion

Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook

Flexibility and ability to work in busy environment

Excellent oral and written English skills.

French or Arabic skills a plus
