Tax Internship
- Prepares tax returns and special consulting services, preparing reports, statements, returns and workpapers; responds to tax notices and prepares initial drafts of letters
- Prepares personal property returns and occupation tax reports and personal, corporate and partnership tax returns of varying complexities
- Prepares amended and carryback returns for NOLs
- Completes S-election and requests for accounting changes forms, application for employer identification number forms, application for state employer identification number, unemployment insurance accounts, as needed
- Uses the firm’s software programs to automate the data transfer process from the trial balance to the financial statement and preparation of the tax return
- May research changes in regulations and share with team members Other duties and special projects as assigned

Assurance Internship
The assurance intern will work on a variety of diversified assurance and review engagements under the supervision of various professional staff members.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participates in all phases of multiple audit and review engagements, including planning, internal control analysis and preparing detailed reports on findings
- Researches applicable GAAS and GAAP standards and rules
- Prepares, analyzes, and verifies annual reports, financial statements, and other records, using accepted accounting procedures
- Collects and analyzes data to detect deficient controls, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies
- Reviews data about material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, and expenditures
- Inspects cash on hand, notes receivable and payable, negotiable securities, and canceled checks to confirm records are accurate
- Examines records and interviews workers to ensure recording of transactions and compliance with laws and regulations
- Examines inventory to verify journal and ledger entries
- Audits payroll and personnel records to determine unemployment insurance premiums, workers’ compensation coverage, liabilities, and compliance with tax laws
- Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
- Ability to determine how a client’s system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
- Develop relationships with clients to help ensure the information flow from the client to the audit team is efficient
- Ability to use computer-assisted auditing techniques (CAATs) during standard audit procedures
Qualifications
- In the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field
- Ability and willingness to travel to clients within the Firm’s market area
