POSITION: Accounting Assistant (Full-Time Position)

CLOSING DATE: Position Immediately Available and Closed When Filled

LOCATION: Fort Worth, Texas (Administration)

OVERVIEW: Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) seeks an experienced full-time Accounting Assistant to provide accounts payable, accounting and administrative support to the LANWT Accounting Department.

DESCRIPTION: LANWT is a non-profit public interest law firm that provides high-quality free civil legal services to low-income persons in 114 counties in North and West Texas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of the Accounting team, the Accounting Assistant will provide daily accounts payable and other accounting support by entering invoices, reconciling purchase orders and employee travel reimbursements, handling information requests and performing clerical functions including preparing correspondence, keying data and filing. Other responsibilities of this position include:

  • Process, code and enter A/P invoices for payment.
  • Validate invoices with items or services received.
  • Request and process W-9 forms for new vendors.
  • Research and resolve vendor matters.
  • Track expenses related to specific projects and/or jobs.
  • Prepare and distribute A/P checks.
  • Assist with review and coding of employee expenses.
  • Prepare and file processed A/P invoices.
  • Reconcile invoices for company credit card.
  • Order office supplies for all branch offices.
  • Perform other duties as required by Chief Financial Officer, Deputy Directory and the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of accounts payable experience.
  • 2 years of general accounting and accounting systems experience.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Calendar Management and Access) required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment while maintaining confidentiality, integrity and discretion in the performance of all duties.
  • Commitment to a team environment focused on continuous improvement for accounting accuracy and efficiency as well as customer service.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to engage in occasional work-related travel.
