We are seeking an Accountant (Payroll/GL) who would be responsible for weekly payroll, month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and backup for accounts receivable and accounts payable. This is an exempt, full-time salaried position.

Sign on bonus available – $2,000 total!

$1,000 paid after 3 months, additional $1,000 paid after 6 months 

Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll.
  • Ensure, in coordination with Human Resources, that employee payroll data is entered correctly on computerized system.
  • Oversee third party payroll reporting and tax filings.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts to the general ledger.
  • Prepare and reconcile quarterly and annual census reports.
  • Assist with month-end closing process, including journal entries, reconciliation and financial statements.
  • Assist in accounting for fixed assets and capital reports, including: maintain fixed assets ledger, prepare and distribute capital variance reports, work with Accounting Manager and department directors to manage fixed assets, review invoices, and maintain capital variance reports.
  • Prepare and distribute apartment turnover capital and expense reports and analysis.
  • Provide oversight and backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and daily data entry (cash receipts, charge slips, etc.) and review coding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions.
  • Complete journal entries and other projects as assigned.
  • Store accounting records per retention policy and procedure.
  • Update and maintain labor analysis reports in coordination with Accounting Manager and communicate to department managers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent employee and resident information.
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer with other accounting projects and reports as needed. 
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting, Business or other related field.
  • Three or more years experience as an Accountant, preferably in a not for profit setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
