The Client

Harmonic are delighted to be working with an incredibly well-regarded and innovative architecture practice in their search for an Accountant to join their team. With a fantastic mentor in the Financial Director position, this is a great opportunity for a hard-working and proactive accountant to join a growing team.

The Role

In this role, you will be tasked with maintaining the accuracy of financial records, including reconciling accounts within specified deadlines. Their role involves recording transactions, reviewing budgets, overseeing the supplier payment cycle, and managing an up-to-date cash flow schedule. Additionally, you will carry out general financial administration duties and tackle ad hoc tasks and analyses, collaborating closely with the Finance Director for guidance and insights.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise finance assistant responsibilities, including utilizing Xero for efficient financial management.
  • Oversee the entire payment process, from coding invoices to authorization and payment.
  • Support implementation and management of purchase orders, addressing queries from staff, suppliers, and customers.
  • Post cashbook entries and conduct bank reconciliations in multiple currencies.
  • Regularly monitor and reconcile control accounts.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, annual p11d(b), and PSA calculations.
  • Manage month-end procedures, including cost analysis, journal postings, and handling various financial transactions.
  • Administer financial and project accounting systems, along with online banking and credit card systems.
  • Assist in year-end accounts preparation and audit processes.
  • Maintain and update finance spreadsheets for reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to finance policies and internal control procedures.
  • Provide finance support to management and various teams for informed financial decision-making.

What We Need To See

  • AAT qualification or equivalent
  • Experience in an architecture practice, construction business, or design firm
  • Experience using Xero accounting software
  • Excellent communications skills and a positive attitude

What We’d Like To See

  • Experience in an identical or similar role
  • A passion for the architecture and design space

Salary: £45,000 – £48,000

Start Date: ASAP

Location: London

Hybrid/Remote: 3 days per week in-office
