Job Purpose

To prepare accurate accounts for fiduciary clients, adhering to the relevant jurisdictional regulations, policies and processes and to maintain accounting records for management and audit purposes.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Account Preparation

  • Prepare and review Trust and company accounts in line with the relevant policies, processes and jurisdictional regulations and timelines to enable accurate reporting.

Financial Statements

  • Prepare and review statements and interim reports, prepare commentary to the accounts, identifying areas that may be of particular concern or interest to enable accurate and timely reporting on allocated accounts.

Bookkeeping

  • Record day to day transactions for the allocated segment accurately and timeously to ensure that the financial position and performance of the allocated entities can be determined at all times.

Client Service

  • Attend to all correspondence and queries received within stipulated service levels and where required, escalate to the Manager, Accounting, to ensure consistently high levels of service. Ensure that the integrity of the data that is entered into the various accounting systems is maintained at all times to enable accurate and compliant reporting.

Data Integrity

  • Ensure that the integrity of data is maintained in the Navision and data management system to enable accurate and reliable reporting.

Chargeable Time

  • Ensure achievement of client chargeable time targets and ensure that timesheets are completed and submitted as per the stipulated timelines to contribute to the profitability of the Trust Division.

Escalation Management

  • Act as a point of escalation for members of the Accounting team and where required escalate matters further, ensure that the issues are managed and resolved efficiently to maintain a high-quality service.

Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure that proper accounting records are kept, and financial statements are prepared within required service levels and in accordance with regulatory time frames and in compliance with the relevant standards and policies to mitigate against and non-compliance risks.

Policies and Procedures

  • Implement and ensure adherence to applicable policies, systems, processes and procedures, monitor the implementation and effectiveness thereof, and suggest the necessary improvements where required so that all relevant risk and governance requirements are fulfilled while consistently delivering a high-quality service.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Level 2 completed and in the process of qualifying as an accountant.

Preferably a qualified Accountant.

Financial/Statutory Accounting Years: 3-4 years, experience, preferably in Trust Accounting.
