JOB PURPOSE: As a member of the team, the accountant will interact directly with staff, donors and suppliers in order to manage the organization’s financial and grant income and ensure financial accountability for auditing purposes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing the documentation of all financial transactions, in line with the requirements and deadlines of the various donors.
- Regular monitoring of the use of the grant budget and consequent review of financial reports.
- A guide to the annual budget forecasts of various organizations.
- Management of regular financial reports, in line with the requirements of the various donors.
- Monitoring liquidity and bank balances to ensure that sufficient funds are always available according to program needs.
- Management of the reconciliation of bank and cash accounts, including the preparation of weekly cash statements and monthly financial records.
- Ensuring financial accountability and resources as well as effective financial management of all documents for audit purposes.
- Management of all financial matters related to personnel (employees and consultants) including salaries of all staff, social security, tax obligations, medical insurance and benefits.
- Regular communication with various donors, including the presentation of financial updates at strategic meetings, such as board and donor meetings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls.
- Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for the external auditors.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making by the management team and Board of Directors.
- Provide training and guidance to other finance and administrative staff as needed.
DIVISION PURPOSE: The accountant manages revenue, including that derived from external funding, by documenting transactions, making payments against proper documentation, monitoring budgets and preparing financial reports for donors. It also manages financial matters involving human resources, consultants, and ensures financial accountability for auditing purposes. Communication with donors is an important part of the position. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills as well as experience in financial management.

Experience, Knowledge & Competencies
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting – Financial Science.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 5 years of practical experience in accounting and financial management in civil society organizations.
- Knowledge of the use of various financial systems such as Quick Books ERP and Al Awael, and other accounting programmes such as Mizan and Local System.
- Detail orientation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, accounting applications and business correspondence.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language with good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Great motivation and speed in learning.
- Knowledge of the main MS Windows software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- High level of initiative.
- Willingness to listen.
- Flexibility in working hours.
- Computer skills, with the ability to enter data into computer databases.
