2D/3D Technical Designer Internship Summer 2023

Selected intern will have the opportunity to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment as they complete an assignment focused on growing and developing one of HBI’s leading apparel brands. This is a paid internship that will start in June 2022 and last for approximately 10 weeks working a hybrid work schedule .

We are building our digital block and pattern library across all activewear categories, as well as our knowledge and abilities to be able to fit using digital technology. As such we are looking for an intern who can support establishing digital fit through the development and review of blocks and patterns on avatars and physically. The selected intern will join a 3D Technical Design digital team supporting a digital workstream and driving progress change with HBI.

Interns will gain experience in the key aspects of digital product creation on topics such as:

• Support the creation of the Brands digital block library across all genders. Reviewing and fitting digital blocks on avatars and physically, in partnership with Technical Design.
• Partner with Tech Design and Design on the fit and development of a block, Fit Expression, and Fit Communication tools.
• Manage fit block integration into Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
• Special tasks/projects, as assigned.

Interns may work with cross-functional teams to analyze real business issues and will present findings and strategic recommendations at the conclusion of the internship.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

• The successful intern candidate will be a rising junior or rising senior college undergraduate student, during Summer 2023, that is currently enrolled in a B.A/B.S. Degree program with emphasis on Apparel Design and/or Merchandising program.
• Knows manual traditional methods of pattern and block making, and understands basic concepts of balance and pattern manipulations.
• Desire ideal candidate that knows how to transfer the pattern or block into a 2D platform and manipulate the pattern there.
• The ideal candidate will be very comfortable navigating and using 2D pattern software.
• Ability to stitch or sew up patterns in 3D, bonus preference.
• Demonstrated a high potential for rapid advancement while possessing a high level of energy, self-confidence, and positive interaction skills.

• Team oriented and ability to work across cross-functional teams.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects, be flexible and work on tight timelines.

• This individual must also be a self-starter and demonstrate good judgment and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
