THE PROGRAM
The 2023 Network Operations Intern Program is open for dedicated and hardworking students. The goal of the Network Operations Intern Program is to provide current students with exposure to a real-life network operation setting, while giving them the opportunity to learn about our industry. Spectrum provides an atmosphere that is intended to broaden an entry level candidate’s professional understanding while promoting self-confidence, accomplishment, and career development.
The program is 10 weeks in length and will run from: June 5th, 2023, through August 11th, 2023
Summary Of Projects
As a member of the Network Engineering team, the intern will leverage corporate standards to assist in the planning, forecasting, and implementation of Optical transport and Layer 3 network elements.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Works on projects/systems/issues of varying complexity surrounding network configuration and deployment.
- Proactively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution.
- Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and implements approved methods of procedure.
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
- Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Single mode Fiber, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
- Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
- Knowledge of basic network concepts (MAC Address, IP Address, DNS, Network protocols)
- Knowledge of basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio)
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.
Skills required for program:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited four year college or university
- Bachelors
- Sophomore and above
- Master’s
- Any Level
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Access)
- Relevant internship is a plus, as is experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong passion demonstrated via energy levels, enthusiasm, creativity and commitment
- Understanding of the telecommunications industry is desired
- Must practice good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality

The pay for this position has a salary range of $20.00/hr to $35.60/hr. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
