About The Role
Job Description
At Takeda, we are committed to lifelong learning.
To that end, Takeda’s summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience to start your career or further develop in your expertise.
The summer internship program is a full-time commitment of 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.
Project Outline
Current state of automation with respect to ambr15 perfusion operations and protein capture require significant manual handling which requires increased time per run and introduces additional contamination risk. Protein capture requires at least RoboColumn purification which is only capable of running eight samples in parallel and takes half a day. Additionally, non-Fc domain proteins require bench-scale purification since specific affinity resin is used. Linking our ambr15 operations to automated uncapping/capping and media replacement for scale-down perfusion mimic and establishing a workflow for automated 96-well plate-based purification would significantly reduce time requirements, allowing for more efficient process development.
Under the supervision of a process engineer within Process Development, the intern will contribute to two main objectives: (1) Integration of automated ambr15 capper and media replacement; (2) Establish workflow for automated plate-based purification. Techniques involved include Tecan liquid handler automation and scripting, small-scale protein production, and sampling by ambr15 HT bioreactor system. The intern will have the opportunity to present research findings to other stakeholders within PD-US at the end of the summer.
How You Will Contribute

- Global mindset to grow in a diverse work environment

- Self-starter and be comfortable working in the laboratory, with some direction of a Staff Engineer.
- Desired major: Life Sciences major (Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, etc.)
