As the Intern you will work in one of the product research teams in the Emissions Control Research group. You will be given your own topic within the general project area but also work on general project areas as well. As the Intern you will work closely with the members of the team and the wider team of Emissions Control Research Group.

Our JMTC business provides research and technical support for the commercial operations of JM’s business units. In addition, they offer a comprehensive array of advanced characterisation services; provide a company-wide information resource; and conduct fundamental research into new processes and technologies essential to the future growth and success of our company.

Your responsibilities:

  • They will focus on a particular emission challenge and aim to develop new catalyst components, new processes to manufacture emission control catalysts, new techniques to characterise and test them
  • Following full training, the intern will oversee and actively contribute to an individual research project without direct supervision and will be responsible for organising their own work schedule following group procedures and Health and Safety regulations.
  • The job will involve the preparation of materials on a small scale. This will be followed by characterisation and testing of the catalyst materials.
  • The intern will analyse their own data and discuss them with their supervisor. They will present their conclusions to their team.
  • As experience is gained, they will be encouraged to present their findings to the divisional development teams.
  • To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Requirements for the role:

  • Undergraduate in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science (Essential)
  • Undergraduate lab skills (Essential)
  • Appreciation of laboratory health and safety (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point (Essential)
