Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent Experience REQUIRED: N/A Experience PREFERRED: Acute care experience as a nursing assistant or aide experience Education/training REQUIRED: Completion of state recognized CNA program OR Completion of first semester junior year in a BSN program dependent upon school curriculum. VCU/MCV BSN students: Completion of Sophomore year, Nursing 201, 202, 261. Associate Degree and Diploma programs: completion of first year or a minimum of two semesters of basic nursing courses. (Specialty areas e.g. pediatrics, women’s health, psychiatry may require completion of a clinical rotation in that area OR Completion of EMT program OR Completion of medical assistant program Education/training PREFERRED: N/A Independent action(s) required: Functions under direction of RN in providing patient care, emotional support, nursing in-services, patient conferences, rounding with physicians and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard, identify educational resources to meet developmental needs Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: OR Externs work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed. Age Specific groups served: As appropriate based on unit assignment. Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs.
