Job Description
The Lead Student Enrollment Liaison works closely with a dedicated team comprised of Student Recruiting and Enrollment Services teammates with a focus on customer service and white glove treatment of prospective & current students seeking to enroll or re-enroll at TSTC. This position is responsible for student enrollment and retention. Specifically, this position assists students throughout the entire enrollment process by providing a high level of customer service and a deep knowledge of the various aspect of higher education rules and regulations, including but not limited to admissions, advisement, financial aid, and records. This position works closely with new and returning students to provide top tier service. This position is empowered to provide high level service to all customers in all situations
Essential Functions
- Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
- Work collaboratively with Student Recruitment, Student Services, Student Learning, Dual Enrollment, College Readiness and Workforce Development to gain knowledge of needs, processes and the available product lines.
- Provide information to new and returning students regarding Texas State Technical College’s technical programs including the registration process, financial aid programs & eligibility requirements, and military programs and benefits. Perform general admission and financial aid related tasks.
- Work closely with new and returning students as they navigate the enrollment process. This includes effectively communicating throughout the entire process. Provide academic and technical guidance to new and current students. Assist applicants with academic advising, course registration, and degree planning. Assist students with academic advising and course registration, degree planning, financial aid processes and procedures and provide referrals to other student resources utilizing technology when possible. Evaluate test scores and transcripts for Texas Success Initiative (TSI) compliance to determine developmental course placement.
- Possess a thorough understanding of college policies, procedures, requirements, and effectively communicate them to applicants. Respond in a timely manner to all applicant and student inquiries received via email, text and phone systems.
- Maintain student records and specific material in accordance with standardized system to ensure compliance with records management, privacy, and office procedures. Maintain Colleague, TargetX, Salesforce and other databases relevant to the applicant and student communication tracks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
- Minimum Associates degree or higher in appropriate field from an accredited college or university. Bachelor degree preferred. Exceptional background may be used in lieu of educational requirements.
- Minimum five years customer service experience. Experience in working on or leading a team, sales, recruiting, admissions, higher education records requirements, financial aid, outreach or a related field preferred
- Thorough knowledge of sales and advising techniques. In depth knowledge of multiple majors will be required for success in this position.
- Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to make informed decisions in order to provide superior customer service.
- Knowledge of the applicable federal and state regulations governing areas related to the responsibilities of the position including the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a service environment that is subject to frequent interruptions and skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) or equivalent software, the internet, email messaging, and web-based software applications and experience using on-line student information systems. Advanced computer knowledge with the ability to understand and learn new on-line programs.
- Ability to effectively, professionally, and tactfully interact and communicate, both orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- This position will require a 5% or greater out-of-town travel that could extend overnight(s).
- This position may occasionally require 10% or more availability to work beyond regular hours of operation and/or weekends.
